DIMO Power Engineering brought down the country's first ever Variable Shunt Reactors early this week. Three units of Variable Shunt Reactors from Siemens Austria will be installed at 220kV Anuradhapura & Mannar Grid substations by DIMO-SIEMENS Consortium. Variable Shunt Reactors are used in high voltage energy transmission systems to stabilize the voltage during load variations.VSR can continuously compensate reactive power as the load varies and thereby securing voltage stability compared to a traditional fixed shunt reactor. This is one of CEB's key projects funded by ADB under Mannar Wind Power Project- Phase 1 and was awarded to DIMO-SIEMENS consortium in May 2019 by giving due consideration to our expertise in the power sector.
The project is planned to be completed by March 2021 and upon completion it will help improve the Power Quality and Stability of the national grid.
The inauguration ceremony of the new Transmission Construction division's head office Building of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) was held recently at Pannipitiya with the participation of officials from CEB, DIMO and SIEMENS.
This is the last phase of the 220kV 3X50MVar Variable Shunt Reactor Project Anuradhapura and Mannar and this event also marked the completion of the project.
DIMO together with its long-standing partner SIEMENS carried out the entire design and construction, including MEP works of this HO building.
Rural Electrification Projects in Sheema Municipality in Uganda
X
The commissioning ceremony of rural electrification projects in Sheema municipality in Uganda was held recently with the participation of Hon. Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development. Mr. Shahane Gunasekara & Mr. Roshan Senevirathne participated in the event representing DIMO.
DIMO is proud to join hands with the government of Uganda as the main contractor of this project and provide our expertise in the power & energy sector to uplift the power & energy infrastructure in the rural areas of Uganda.
The project included 137 km of Medium Voltage lines and 222km of Low Voltage Lines including 96 distribution substations. A team of highly skilled and experienced engineers were involved in the project, in making sure the project deliverables are met as planned and highest customer satisfaction is guaranteed.
Upon the successful completion of this project, DIMO look forward to undertaking power and energy projects in the other parts of Udanga as well as in other parts of the world including Maldives, Middle east, Kenya and Tanzania.
Construction of Nikawewa Bodagama Water Supply project in Monaragala District
X
Industrial Engineering division of DIMO recently completed Construction of Nikawewa Bodagama Water Supply project in Monaragala District. DIMO undertook the entire scope of supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 03 Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plants for this project. DIMO also completed construction of 20m3 Capacity 12m height 03 elevated water tanks to store treated water.
This project provides safe drinking water to over 300 families in Thanamalvila, Monaragala District.
DIMO recently commissioned a custom-designed Multiple Car Elevator System at E.W. Balasuriya & Co. (Pvt) Ltd in Colombo 04.
These elevators travel through 4 levels inside the building, transporting vehicles simultaneously to the required parking floors. Being a hydraulically powered system, which does not require additional overhead clearances or a machine room, has saved lots of space through efficiency in design and optimum usage of building infrastructure, ultimately leading to a faster ROI.
DIMO Industrial Engineering Department recently commissioned Matara Stage IV Water Supply project in Sri Lanka.
High quality water is critical for both industrial processes and for human consumption. Water disinfection process plays a major role during any water treatment scheme.
DIMO has been providing comprehensive disinfection solutions with innovative technologies for the municipal water industry since many decades.
In order to maintain chlorine residual in the water distribution system and thereby to ensure high level of consumer protection, feeding of controlled streams of diluted chlorine solutions to treat the water of the plant is carefully performed through a proper injection system supplied and installed by DIMO.
The chlorination system operates fully automatically while adapting to the demands received from the Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
SIEMENS – DIMO consortium served as the turnkey contractor of this project and designed, supplied, installed, tested and commissioned work on the project.
This substation strengthened the national grid by adding 64mva and contributed to improving its reliability.
The project reflected DIMO’s engineering excellence.
DIMO completes commissioning and handing over of Kalmar Essential Reachstacker DRU45 to South Asia Gateway Terminals (PVT) LTD recently.
This Kalmar reachstacker is equipped with Kalmar adjustable 20’-40’ spreader with side shift =/- 800mm. The machine is capable of stacking ISO 9.6ft 20’-40’ loading container up to 5 high. Also, this machine is fitted with an exceptional fire suppression system, to protect the operator and machine from fire.
